What is success? How do you and your dental team define success? Do you know how to measure success in your dental practice? How do you know if you have it? What do you do with it once you have it? Some of us think of success as an elusive unicorn.  The truth is, most of us struggle with how to even define success. Take a moment to ponder this.  Is it having passion? Motivation? Determination?

Let’s take a moment to be objective and read the dictionary definition of success: The favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors, the accomplishment of one’s goals.

Now with that being said, are you able to recognize when you and your team accomplish the small successes along the way?  Like we say here at AMP, "there is no success too small to celebrate!"

Goal setting can be a little tricky.  On one hand, you don’t want to shoot too high and set yourself up for failure and on the other hand you don’t want to shoot too low and easily meet the goal without setting up another one.  The important thing to remember is once you reach a goal take a moment to celebrate, then re-evaluate and set up another goal to accomplish!

Goal setting is a lifelong process and the road to success is always under construction.

Just as in life, things you cannot control can and will affect your course to reaching your goals.  The important thing to remember is to not let them steer you off track!  Let’s imagine your goal as a destination and your journey to reach it as the path of an airplane.  Things are going to happen along that flight path, a crosswind for example, that if the pilot is not prepared to handle will affect the final destination.

Course correction is essential on your journey of success the same way it is to the pilot on his path to his final destination.  Evaluate where you are on your journey to reaching your successes at least half way through and see if you’re still on pace to where you want to be or do you need to adjust?  If we’re never adjusting for our goals as life happens, we don’t achieve them!

Your personal coach from Accelerate My Practice is ready to help you every step of the way from goal setting, course correction, and celebration!
