Would you like to know how to attract more higher quality patients, present transformative full mouth dentistry cases, and get a yes to $30,000.00 cases? If this is an area you find intriguing then lets talk about digital dentistry, where the focus is on utilizing high end technology to make your practice more efficient. Digital dentistry provides your patients with a better solution that is more cost effective for them and more productive for you! Whether this is something you are already doing and would like to do more of or just getting into, Digital Enamel is a great resource in the progression of your practice. Digital Enamel is a partnership that has been formed between a few different dentists with an emphasis on CEREC chairside CAD/CAM and Galileos CBCT. This is a great continuing education venue with multiple locations across the country.
Now, I'd like to ask you a question. Imagine I have a jigsaw puzzle and I give you only one part of a three-piece puzzle. Can you solve the puzzle with just one piece? What about if I give you two pieces of a three-piece puzzle, now can you solve it? How many pieces do you need to correctly solve the jigsaw? If you answered all three you are correct. Unfortunately, what I often see from our dental consulting competitors is that they offer only one piece of a three part puzzle commonly leading to stagnation and frustration. Today I'd like to give you a few of the first pieces to the puzzle. In our next article, Case Acceptance and Unscheduled Treatment Part 2, we will discuss the others.
Puzzle piece one relies heavily on your mindset. Think of the old saying 'birds of a feather flock together.' I find it interesting that most people want to be around those who are either like them or whom they aspire to be. Does this hold true within the demographics of your practice as well? If not, would you like it to? You can have the greatest dental toys aka technology and tools but if you don't have the confidence to look a patient in the eye and talk about transformative dentistry (such as a $30,000.00 case) then you're toast! This is where mindset comes into play; you need the confidence and understanding in how you can use psychology to influence yourself to then in turn influence others. If you don't have the confidence to tell a patient what they truly need and instead get focused on diagnosing their pocket book, how successful do you think you will be?
The second part of the puzzle has to do with the language we use and whom it is geared towards. At AMP we teach a lot of neuro-linguistic programming focused around verbiage because simply put, your words are powerful! Think about it- the language that we use has the power to transform the thinking of those around us. This message is conveyed from the first time a patient makes contact with your practice before they ever walk in the door. This could be via marketing or a phone call to your office. What kind of words does your front desk utilize when picking up the phone? Is it motivational and encouraging so your practice stands out from all the others? Or do you blend in with your competitors?
From a marketing perspective, there are many different forms of delivery in your marketing message. The most important thing is what your message conveys. When you go to a steakhouse what are they known for? In the same regard, what does your marketing say about you and the patients that you desire? A few keys to consider in your message is that you narrow down your niche while conveying what you love to do in your practice and what you are good at it. If you aren't good at it now, are you willing to put in the work to get there? If so, that's where Digital Enamel and AMP can help.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome. What kind of patients do you desire? What does the practice of your dreams look like? Are you ready to get outside of your comfort zone and try something different in order to generate those results? Doctors, just like you wouldn't recommend a patient pulling out their own tooth with a pair of pliers maybe it is time to put your business pliers down, reach out to AMP, and get excited about generating a completely different outcome!
