How to Deal with Dental Competition!

How do you differentiate your dental practice and survive in any economy? How do you create raving fan's that can't stop telling family and friends about their experience in your dental practice? AMPs here to tell you the two key points your dental team needs to work together towards to come out on top!

1. Create a vision for your business. What do you want to be known for? Successful practices create their own vision and then follow it. The vision you have for your practice must be something everyone in your practice is completely on board with and working to make it happen. Your vision must be in alignment with the kind of patients you want in your practice as well. Often in our coaching we are told about how intense the competition in dentistry is. The reality is for any organization to grow and thrive they must dwarf their competition and create patient loyalty. The vision you have for your practice should be based on solving a specific problem patients face in a bold way. What can you do that no one else in the industry is doing? How can you create so much value in your practice that your patients can't help but tell everyone about you?

That awesome team of yours even gets on your case at times. Where do you go? Same old, same old: Junket to Vegas, hop to Hawaii, visit the 'outlaws'? Ever go somewhere you've never been, following someone you've just met – based on their grinning promise that your destination is the most awesome place ever, where the coolest people live and do the most amazing things? That requires risk. That's walking barefoot through a dark room carpeted with Legos. Stepping out of that comfy, easy little playpen you call a normal life. And do it by choice? Hmmm? Sounds nutty. What if you didn't ask for it? What if you were faced with choosing between this risk and what you know to be even more difficult and/or fearful? What if the suggestion was given to you by a stranger? A freakin' SALESMAN? Whoa. Shields UP, Mr. Sulu!

Respect is the First Step to Leadership

With everything that goes on in your dental practice, it can be difficult to find time to lead your team and create unity among the patients and staff. But, with a little effort it's possible. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts."

It doesn't have to be a national crisis, but in the case of leadership the point is clear: You want to give your staff and patients real facts and truth, because this is what creates their respect towards you, and let's face it; if you aren't respected in your practice by your staff, you will not have the most successful business.

Training New Members of Your Dental Team!

You have just found the perfect employee to join your dental team, how do you move forward with training them in your dental office? Where do we start in this process? How do we trust and delegate?


Our first take in hiring is to clone ourselves when in actuality, we should hire our weaknesses. Hire to address your own weaknesses so you can delegate what you don’t like to do to someone that does! 
Delegation is the key. Do you trust enough to delegate?  If you do it all as the employer, you have a job. If you delegate and trust, you have an empowered team that will do for you well beyond your expectations. 

Do you desire to micromanage your business disallowing empowerment amongst your team members? If you delegate your weaknesses, then verify the results, you will create accountability amongst your team and results for yourself. Without delegation and trust, you will be doing it all when your passionate team members are there to build your business. Tap into their resources!
